Campaign and Pressure Your Government Before the UN meeting in March.

The International Ban Terminator Campaign asks you to take action  
before the major meeting of the United Nations Convention on  
Biological Diversity (COP8 – 8th Conference of the Parties) in Brazil  
March 20-31. This meeting will decide the future of Terminator  
technology.

UPDATE:

A few weeks ago at a UN meeting in Spain, the industry-government  
goal to approve Terminator technology was made even clearer - the  
governments of Canada, Australia and New Zealand are now helping  
Monsanto, Syngenta and other companies to end the UN “de facto”  
moratorium on Terminator. For more information see http://

TAKE ACTION:

Groups and individuals are asked to take action in this last critical  
month before the major meeting of the United Nations Convention on  
Biological Diversity March 20-31 2006 in Curitiba, Brazil.
1) ENDORSE THE CAMPAIGN – BEFORE FEBRUARY 17 or BEFORE MARCH 1st:
- Groups across the world are adding their names to the call for a  
ban – the list is now posted at http://www.banterminator.org On  
February 20 we will announce this first list to the media - we will  
produce a final list on March 1st. Please sign up your group via  
www.banterminator.org or by email to contact at banterminator.org

-  Please contact other groups in your country and ask them to sign  
on to the campaign.

Sign On: "We oppose all forms of Terminator technology (Genetic Use  
Restriction Technologies or GURTs). We ask all national governments  
and international bodies to ban Terminator in order to ensure that  
the technology is never field tested or commercialized."

2) PRESSURE YOUR GOVERNMENT:
Please pressure your government in this last month before the Brazil  
meeting. Write to your Minister of Environment and ask them to  
support the moratorium on Terminator at the COP8 meeting. Request a  
meeting with your government officials.

Campaña Internacional Terminar Terminator
Llamado a respaldar la campaña y presionar a su gobierno ante la  
reunión de la ONU en marzo.

La Campaña Internacional Terminar Terminator le pide realizar  
acciones de cara a la más importante reunión del Convenio sobre  
Diversidad Biológica de Naciones Unidas (COP8 - 8ª Conferencia de las  
Partes) en Brasil, del 20 al 31 de marzo. En esta reunión se decidirá  
el futuro de la tecnología Terminator.

LO ÚLTIMO:

Hace pocas semanas, en una reunión de Naciones Unidas en España, se  
hizo más evidente que nunca el objetivo de algunos gobiernos y la  
industria de aprobar la tecnología Terminator -hablamos de Canadá,  
Australia y Nueva Zelanda, que ahora ayudan a Monsanto, Syngenta y  
otras compañías a terminar con la moratoria "de facto" que tiene  
Naciones Unidas sobre Terminator. Para más información vea:

ACTÚE:

Se pide a grupos e individuos que tomen acción este último mes, que  
es crucial, antes de la reunión más importante del Convenio de  
Diversidad Biológica de la ONU, del 20 al 31 de marzo de 2006 en  
Curitiba, Brasil.

1) RESPALDEN LA CAMPAÑA - ANTES DEL 17 DE FEBRERO O ANTES DEL 1º DE  
MARZO:
- Grupos de todo el mundo están sumando sus nombres al llamado para  
lograr la prohibición de Terminator - la lista se encuentra http:// 
www.terminarterminator.org  El 17 de febrero publicaremos esta lista  
en los medios - Y contaremos con una lista final para el 1o de marzo.

-  Por favor contacte a otros grupos y pídales que se sumen a la  
campaña.
Firme lo siguiente: "Nos oponemos a todas las formas de la tecnología

Demandamos a los gobiernos nacionales y organismos internacionales  
que prohíban Terminator con el fin de asegurar que esta tecnología  
nunca sea probada en el campo o comercializada."

2) PRESIONEN A SUS GOBIERNOS:
Presione a su gobierno este último mes antes de la reunión en Brasil.  
Escriba a su Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y demándele que apoye la  
moratoria sobre Terminator en la reunión de la COP8. Solicite  
reunirse con los funcionarios de su gobierno.

La campagne internationale Interdire Terminator vous demande de  
passer à l’action d’ici la rencontre capitale de la Convention des  
Nations unies sur la diversité biologique (CdP 8 – 8e Conférence des  
Parties) du 20 au 31 mars, au Brésil. C’est là qu’on déterminera le  
sort de la technologie Terminator.

Il y a quelques semaines, une rencontre onusienne en Espagne a scellé  
l’alliance entre l’industrie et certains gouvernements en faveur de  
la technologie Terminator : le Canada, l’Australie et la Nouvelle- 
Zélande aident maintenant Monsanto, Syngenta et d’autres grandes  
sociétés à renverser le moratoire de fait des Nations unies sur

champ ou toute commercialisation de cette technologie. »

2) FAITES PRESSION SUR VOTRE GOUVERNEMENT
Au cours du mois qui précède la rencontre au Brésil, faites pression  
sur votre gouvernement. Écrivez au ministre de l’Environnement pour  
lui demander d’appuyer le moratoire sur Terminator lors de la CdP 8.  
Tentez d’obtenir une rencontre avec des représentants officiels du  
gouvernement.
